It was exciting watching the waves crash onto the rocks under the walkway.

The Library and Puke Ariki

We learnt about the moa living in Taranaki.

Watching how Mount Taranaki was created.

Trip to Puke Ariki, the Library, and the Walkway

Rooms 1, 3 and 4 went by bus (a first time for many!)on our biggest trip ever to New Pymouth to learn about natural and man-made features of Taranki. We had a fun session in the Library and tehn went to Puke Ariki. We saw the ginormous shark hanging from the roof wearing an All Blacks scarf. Just how did they get that scarf up there? We saw a video on how Mount Taranaki was created and sorted Maori resources into the natural resources they were made from. Afterwards, we walked along the walkway and had lunch at the park. We saw the great big wind wand and a massive container ship being pulled by a tugboat at the port. It was exciting when we stood on the walkway and watched the waves crashing below our feet. The trip was so much fun that we didn't want to go back to school! Have a look at our photos and see what we did.

Fun in the Garden

We had great fun helping Miss H and the Triple P's (ENVIRO group) plant ground cover plants under the big trees outside the junior block. We enjoyed digging the holes and getting our hands dirty. The garden looks really cool now and we hope the kids stop running through the garden and squashing our new plants! We got the plants for free from Paper 4 Trees because we do so much recycling at school. We are trying to do a lot more recycling at school now and keep our school tidy. Hope you like the photos of us in action!

Goodbye Miss Hendra!!

Last Friday was Miss Hendra's (our student teacher from Victoria University) last day working in Room 4. As a treat, we made lolly cake and played some cool party games with Miss Hendra. It was great fun crushing the biscuits and moulding the lolly cake log. But the best part was when we all got to eat the lolly cake. YUMMY!! Thank you Miss Hendra. We will miss you.

The finished lolly cake. Very yummy!

Mekai had fun moulding the lolly cake. Mmmmmm ... when can we eat it??

Mitchell enjoyed making the lolly cake and couldn't wait to taste it!

Some of our fantastic work on display in Room 4

We used a cool website called www.buildyourwildself.com to create new creatures and then we wrote about them.

We wrote descriptions of ourselves and then shared them with the class to learn about each other.
